Serving

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.  Let each of you look not to your own interest, but to the interests of others. - Philippians 2:3-4

We do not serve others because God requires it of us, we serve others because our neighbors need us.  In worship our lives are re-centered in Christ. With our identity in Christ renewed, we go out the doors to love and help other people wherever we find ourselves.  Whether at work, school, in the neighborhood, or even in our own families, people are in need of love and help.  We are God's hands doing God's work.

Below are some ways that you can share with us in helping your neighbor.

God's Work Our Hands Work Sundays

Several times throughout the year we put our beliefs into action and do a service project on Sunday morning after a brief worship.  We are happy to show the love of God in a very real way as we help local people and organizations on these mornings.  Please join us for our next God's Work Our Hands Sunday!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bradford, Sullivan, and Tioga Counties

Relationships are everything.  Children in our area need mentors now more than ever.  With Big Brothers Big Sisters, every adult volunteer spends 4 - 8 hours every 2 weeks with their "Little." Over the years the adult volunteers have created magical moments in the lives of children. Many times the adult's impact allows for the relationship to be pivotal in the child's life and at times the relationship extends through adulthood.

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church

Of course there are many other ways that you can serve.  Within our own congregation we have people involved in motorcycle ministry, Special Olympics, running for charity, teaching English as a second language, and many other ways to service your neighbor.  Join us and connect with someone who shares your passion.

Obviously, you can also serve others through the church itself.  We have people who do visits, cook, fix things, garden, assist in worship, serve as parish nurses, and teach.  But, you may be feeling the tug from God to serve in another way.  You might even desire to learn to be a pastor!  Join us and explore how you can serve your neighbor.
